GM Notes: The Master Plan
Spoilers, secrets, and the threads that connect Part I to the climax.
GM Only
This page lives in the /gm/ folder. It is not linked from any public navigation. Players reading the site will not stumble across it — but anyone with the URL can read it, so don't share the URL with players, and remember this is not true privacy.
For real privacy, Neocities offers password-protected pages on paid plans. For most groups, "unlinked and unguessable" is enough.
The Substituted Script
The play the troupe believes they will perform in Wati is The Pharaoh's Final Hour, a melodrama. The script that arrives in their possession on the road to Wati is something else entirely — a ritual text disguised as a play, with cues that map to the components of a binding-undoing.
When they perform it on the night of the new moon in the necropolis amphitheater (an "atmospheric venue" the cult helpfully suggested), the binding breaks.
Long Threads
- Menes the Magnificent begins as a peer. By Part III, he is being courted by the cult. By Part V, he leads them.
- The Threshold of Heaven's Descent — first encountered in the introductory adventure as a curious dungeon — is revisited at high level, and what was a quiet ruin reveals what it actually is.
- The Eyes Beneath the Sand are watching the troupe from the moment they cross into Osirion. Whether they are allies, antagonists, or something more complicated depends on choices made in Part II.
